ARCHERY

Men's Individual (70-metre) — Jay Lyon, Winnipeg, lost 115-110 to Bair Badenov, Russia, in the round of 16.

ATHLETICS

Men's 100 (Qualification) — Pierre Browne, Toronto, placed 34th overall in the second round with a time of 10.36 seconds. Anson Henry, Pickering, Ont., was 30th (10.33). Neither advanced.

Men's Shot Put — Dylan Armstrong, Kamloops, B.C., placed fourth in the final round with a distance of 21.04, missing a bronze medal by one centimetre.

Men's 1500 — Kevin Sullivan, Brantford, Ont., placed seventh in qualifying with a time of 3:36.05, good enough to advance. Nathan Brannen, Cambridge, Ont., placed 28th and also advanced (3:41.45).

Men's Hammer Throw (Qualification) — James Steacy, Lethbridge, Alta., placed 11th with a throw of 76.32, enough to qualify for the next round.

Women's Heptathlon — Jessica Zelinka, London, Ont., placed second in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 12.97 seconds. In the High Jump, she placed 14th with a jump of 1.77 metres.

DIVING

Women's 3-metre Springboard — Jennifer Abel, Laval, Que., placed tenth in qualification, advancing to the next round with a score of 300.75.

EQUESTRIAN

Individual Jumping — Mac Cone, King City, Ont., and Eric Lamaze, Schomberg, Ont., had flawless first runs and are tied for first. Jill Henselwood, Oxford Mills, Ont., is 14th with one missed jump and Ian Millar, Perth, Ont., is 30th with four misses. As a team, Canada sits tied for second.

GYMNASTICS

Women's Individual All-Round — Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs of Toronto finished with a score of 58.375, placing 16th.

ROWING

Men's Double Sculls (Lightweight) — Douglas Vandor, Dewittville, Que., and Cameron Sylvester, Caledon, Ont., finished last in their heat with a time of six minutes 49.28 seconds.

Men's Four Without Coxswain (Lightweight) — The Canadian team (Iain Brambell, Brentwood Bay, B.C.; Jon Beare, Toronto; Mike Lewis, Victoria; and Liam Parsons, Thunder Bay, Ont.) finished second in its heat with a time of 6:07.86.

Women's Double Sculls (Lightweight) — Melanie Kok, St. Catharines, Ont., and Tracy Cameron, Shubenacadie, N.S., won their heat with a time of 7:10.70.

Women's Pair Without Coxswain — Zoe Hoskins, Edmonton, and Sabrina Kolker, West Vancouver, B.C., placed third in their race with a time of 7:37.27.

SHOOTING

Men's 50-metre free rifle prone — Johannes Sauer of Vancouver placed 44th in the final with a score of 587.0.

SWIMMING

Men's 200 Individual Medley — Keith Beavers, Orangeville, Ont., finished seventh in the final with a time of one minute 59.43 seconds.

Men's 1500 Freestyle — Ryan Cochrane of Victoria placed second in qualifying with a time of 14:40.84, advancing to the next round.

Men's 4x100 Medley Relay — Canada (Jake Tapp, Langley, B.C., Mike Andrew Brown, Perth, Ont., Joe Bartoch, London, Ont., and Brent Hayden, Mission, B.C.), placed 10th with a time of 3:35.56, failing to qualify.

Women's 200 Breaststroke — Annamay Pierse of Edmonton placed sixth in the final with a time of 2:23.77.
