Gord Tolton from Coaldale, Alberta, Canada writes: The Canadian troops in Afghanistan show everyday with their work, their selflessness, and even their lives, what nation building is all about.
B ill Graham from Upper Coverdale, NB, Canada writes: I would like to nominate the Canadian soldiers who are now serving, have served, and/or will serve in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world. They sacrifice so much and receive so little recognition. They are Canada's face around the world and they make us proud to be Canadian.
Josef K from In the Middle of Nowhere, WA, United States writes: The Canadian Soldier: If it weren't for the Canadian soldier, there would be no freedom for my Canuck friends. Enough said.
Daniel Metraux from Staunton, VA, United States writes: The Canadian soldier striving to bring peace to Afghanistan against great odds. We in the US owe these brave men and women our deep gratitude. Sadly, very few people here in America know about the sacrifices these Canadians are making.
economic slave from Toronto, Canada writes: The Canadian soldier should receive the nation building award. It is the Canadian Soldier who makes Canadians proud to be Canadians. It is the Canadian Soldier who is willing to put his or her life on the line for a cause they believe. It is the Canadian Soldier who sacrifices being away from family and loved ones to go to a far-off land to fight for democratic rights and freedoms. It is the Canadian Soldier who does this willingly because they recognize that Canadians are fortunate to live in a democracy where everyone has the right to speak freely, make free choices, and where human rights are respected. It is the Canadian Soldier who inspires Canadians to look beyond their daily lives, and to reflect on how lucky we are to be living in Canada. It is the Canadian Soldier who is the true Nation Builder, and brings Canadians together with a sense of pride.
