A detail of Jonathan Yeo’s painting of a naked Sienna Miller.

Sienna Miller usually is described as an actress. But so far her fame has rested less on her film work (she was great in G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, wasn't she?) than on the circumstances of her tabloid-tabulated life, most famously her on-again/now-very-much-off romance with Jude Law and the testimony she gave last year at the inquiry into the British newspaper phone-hacking scandal.

She is back in the papers this week, but, true to form, it's for her form, not her performance – in this instance, a nude portrait British painter Jonathan Yeo did of her last summer just before she gave birth to her first child, a girl.

The painting is part of a Yeo show going up in Berlin on Thursday, but somehow the British tabs got an advance peek of the starkers Sienna and they're running with it – to the expected sensational effect.

Of course, who's going to complain about something as natural as a lovely lass in the final glow of her pregnancy? In the words of one commentator, "Imminent motherhood has become the respectable garb for artistic representations of naked women … the modern fig leaf."
