Hollywood is one thing, but FOMO (aka Fear Of Missing Out) gets so much more acute when all of the fun is happening in our own backyard. Here, a rundown of last night’s festival festivities, ranked from the mildly exciting to the maaaaaaan, you really missed out.

Bromance, part I

It’s probably the best received movie of the festival, so it’s no wonder that Foxcatcher co-stars Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo decided to keep the party going. Following an official studio post-screening event, the pair dropped into the lobby bar of the Trump Hotel where they ordered a bottle of Jack Daniels to the table. Tatum took selfies from his own iPhone and seemed to be in a pretty jovial mood, though for the record, he did not (at least visibly) partake in any recreational genital grazing, despite his newly released rap video where he claims that this is a trendy new form of male bonding.

Bromance, part II

Several floors up, the Trump Hotel hosted the official after party for 99 Homes, an intense family drama starring Andrew Garfield, Laura Dern and Michael Shannon. All three celebs showed up to toast their TIFF project, but it wasn’t just the cast of the movie that made an appearance. Rapper Lil John was there (though it’s unclear why, since he spent most of the party playing on his phone). So was Robert Pattinson, who showed up late sporting a baseball cap and sipping a bottle of water. Garfield and R-Patz chatted for quite a while, presumably covering such topics as what it’s like to be hot, young and British. Both actors left the packed party and not five minutes later, it was almost empty. So yes, we all love creeping on celebrities, but a little subtlety would be nice.

Bromance, part III

Jon Stewart at the 'Rosewater' premiere. (Arthur Mola/Invision/AP)

The king of sarcastic news analysis Jon Stewart was the man of many hours at a Soho House/Grey Goose party in celebration of his first and fiercely anticipated writer/directorial debut Rosewater. Stewart’s leading man Gael Garcia Bernal kept quiet in the corner, while The Daily Show host (never one to keep quiet about much of anything) ventured out into the crowd. His many chats included an extended hang with CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi, who interviewed Stewart on Sunday for a future broadcast (all media is being held until the film’s release). The topic of choice was Ethan Hawke’s amazing talent and particularly his performance in Boyhood. Stewart and Ghomeshi (Stewshi? Jonian?) had a couple of bro-ish encounters before the former did his best to execute a soft exit. No such luck, thanks to an army of mega-fans who swarmed him as soon as he hit the street. Stewart paused to sign autographs and take photos curb-side until his publicist finally pulled him away. Stay tuned for a Comedy Central skit about how Rob Ford ain’t got nothin’ on the rabid Canadian stalker-azzi.
