A scene from "Janeane from Des Moines"

Necessary spoiler alert: The important thing you need to know about this post-Michael Moore pseudo-doc is that Janeane Wilson – Christian, mother, wife, home-care worker, Republican and Tea Partier – is actually actress Jane Edith Wilson. Otherwise, you might not glean that until the final credits, by which point you, if liberal-minded, will be nodding sagely as this political junkie finds no Republican candidate who can tell her how his or her health-care plan might solve Janeane's problem: a lump in her breast and no insurance since her trucker husband lost his job. The conservative-minded, on the other hand, may be furious at being duped, which suggests that while this film is much smarter than Fox News, it also fails as propaganda, journalism and art.
