The Writers' Trust of Canada announced the finalists today for the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing. The $25,000 prize -- up from $15,000 last year -- will be presented March 4 at the Politics and the Pen Gala in Ottawa.
The five finalists are:
Daphne Bramham (Vancouver) for The Secret Lives of Saints: Child Brides and Lost Boys in Canada's Polygamous Mormon Sect (Random House Canada). Read the Globe review here.

Erna Paris (Toronto) for The Sun Climbs Slow: Justice in the Age of Imperial America (Knopf Canada)
