Inconceivable: The Princess Bride, 25 years on Add to ...

It started with a kindly Peter Falk reading a classic fairy tale to his skeptical grandson. As it progressed, it brought in pirates, mercenaries, giants, swordsmen, a kidnapped princess, an evil prince, and large rodents. But no matter how dark the material got, the script was marked from beginning to end by a deft comic sensibility.

Released in 1987, The Princess Bride has become a pop-culture touchstone. Featuring Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, Robin Wright, Christopher Guest, and Billy Crystal, it has become one of the most-quoted films in Hollywood history. Here are a few of our favourite scenes.
