Not surprisingly, Jennifer Lopez was the final celebrity to arrive on the red carpet at the annual amfAR fundraiser for AIDS research in Cannes on Thursday night. Lopez, in a dramatic pink Cavalli dress, took full advantage of her moment, whipping photographers into such a frenzy they started knocking each other over. While J.Lo made love to the cameras, husband Marc Anthony stood to the side, seemingly becoming taller with pride every time a lightbulb flashed. Diane Kruger attended the event solo, as boyfriend Joshua Jackson stayed back in Los Angeles to celebrate his mother's birthday. Inside the gala at the Hotel du Cap, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt tried to auction off kisses, but there were no takers. Obviously, the rich European guests had terrible taste. And R ussell Crowe returned to Cannes at the request of Paul Haggis for an Artists for Peace and Justice fundraiser the same night in support of Haitian earthquake victims. Crowe, accompanied by wife Danielle, huddled in a VIP booth inside, exchanging manly guffaws with Gerard Butler. Butler is an excellent multitasker, managing to maintain their conversation while ogling the parade of leggy models angling for his attention. By the time I left, he still hadn't made his decision.
