Most celebrities at Cannes can't wait to get on the red carpet to preen and pose on the world stage. Penelope Cruz, however, decided to take a side entrance into the Palais on Monday night for the premiere of Biutiful, starring her boyfriend Javier Bardem. Cruz skipped running the photo gauntlet so as not to upstage her man. Considerate, sure, but can you really hide in Cannes? The two were caught later by paparazzi holding hands heading to dinner.
The same night, jeweller Chopard hosted yet another party at VIP Room, where A-listers such as Marion Cotillard, Naomi Watts and Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco did their best to avoid Lindsay Lohan. Somehow she scammed her way into the event. Although given all the allegations about her fondness for things that don't belong to her, some wags suggested security was keeping a close eye on her. Naomi Campbell was there too, licking the ear of her really hot Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin between sips of champagne. Word is he'd just bought her a new necklace.
