Directed by Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass (USA)

A small, quirky comedy with big ideas on destiny and the order of the universe comes from the Duplass brothers, the writing-directing duo behind 2010's Cyrus. Jason Segel is the titular, thoughtful, track-pants-wearing slacker who, yes, lives at home. A banal chore one day gets him out of the house on an errand involving wood glue, thus setting off a chain reaction of seemingly unrelated events involving his lonely mother (the excellent Susan Sarandon) and misguided brother ( The Hangover's Ed Helm). The film that tells us there is meaning, direction and revelations to be found in random happenings comes together delightfully and emotionally, just as planned.
