That's All I Need

  • Andre Williams
  • Bloodshot

Mister Sleaze has gone Mister Please. Detroit's Andre Williams, the incorrigible veteran singer of Jail Bait and other rough, ready and ribald sub-classics, is a humbled figure on his latest release. The Doors-mode psychedelic blues of Just Call Me finds our man on bended knee, and the spryly-funky There Ain't No Such Thing as Good Dope is a rare public-service announcement from this streetwise bon vivant. Though the song structures are highly derivative, there's tasty six-stringing from the legendary Dennis Coffey. The album-closing Amends is an apologetic soliloquy to a lover. Whether Williams will change his ways for good remains to be seen.
