Tim Lincecum, the longhaired and lithe little guy with a knack for tossing hardballs with astonishing verve and velocity, apparently has been immortalized in song. During its broadcast of the final World Series game, Fox Sports aired a song, Here Comes the Freak , thought to refer to the winning San Francisco pitcher known as The Freak.

The British Invasion-styled track comes from the Freaking Freaks, an obscure band with a freshly mounted website. As lyrics of the self-described "signature song" do not even vaguely concern baseball, the tune may be a trick pitch.

In contrast, the song Panda & the Freak specifically refers to Lincecum (along with his teammate Pablo Sandoval, aka Kung Fu Panda). It's part of the forthcoming Vol. 2: High and Inside, a sequel album of ball-diamond ditties from the Baseball Project.

"The Panda's smoking line drives, the Freak is throwing heat," the crunching rocker goes. Lincecum, the man-child baseballer who was busted for dope possession a year ago and who remarked Monday that the World Series trophy was "shiny," not only throws heat, he's a smokin' hot commodity.
