After 23 years at the helm of the Toronto Jazz Festival, Jim Galloway is stepping down as artistic director, relinquishing his post with the Toronto Downtown Jazz Society.

Galloway, 73, who helped establish the festival originally dubbed "du Maurier Downtown Jazz," cited "evolving personal plans, intensive performance schedule demands, and a continuingly rigorous travel agenda" as his reasons for the move.

Galloway's successor is yet to be named. Staff
