Vancouver crooner Michael Bublé has, willfully or not, stepped into the Kim Kardashian media mire.

In an intimate concert in New York on Nov. 8, Bublé was apparently having a little fun with his audience at the expense of the news-making reality-TV star and threw in the B word for good measure.

He reportedly announced to the audience, "Ladies and gentleman, I have a very special guest. Please welcome Kim Kardashian."

There was said to be a pause, as some took him seriously. Then he quickly revealed he was joking, "Nah, just [expletive]with you. That [expletive]isn't coming on my stage."

Normally, any mention of Kardashian, who's in the process of divorcing her NBA-playing husband Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage, attracts the Internet like flies. Yet this took an unusually long time – nearly six days.

One earlier review online referred to Bublé as saying a Kardashian joke and a word or two of sympathy for Humphries. It wasn't until the New York Post tabloid quoted his use of the B word that the Internet was suddenly all over the story.

The question, of course, is the context in which Bublé made his comment.

Was he going for a little Rat Pack edginess, that old trick of employing some off-colour humour to add a little spice to the standards on his song list?

The concert was for just 200 people at the tiny P.C. Richard & Son theatre in Manhattan. Likely Bublé thought he was just talking to them instead of the whole gossiping world.

The singer wasn't available for comment Monday.
