The Liberal government is making some changes at provincial television network TVOntario, removing Isabel Bassett as chair of the board.

Ms. Bassett, the partner of former Conservative premier Ernie Eves, has been chair of TVO and its French-language arm, TFO, for the past six years.

Education Minister Gerard Kennedy says the government will separate the role of chair and chief executive officer at TVO, and named independent producer Peter O'Brian the new chair.

Former Astral Television Networks CEO Lisa de Wilde has been appointed chief executive officer of TVO and TFO.

The government has also transferred responsibility for TVOntario from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to the Ministry of Education.
