TUESDAY, APRIL 30 ABC Primetime (ABC, 10 p.m.) In tonight’s must-see TV event, ABC anchor Diane Sawyer sits down for an exclusive interview with Amanda Knox, the young American woman originally convicted of murdering British exchange student Meredith Kercher in Italy back in 2007. Knox served four years of her 26-year sentence in an Italian prison before the conviction was overturned in late 2011. But then last month, Knox’s acquittal was overturned by the Italian Supreme Court, which means she can be tried for the murder all over again. Expect the interview to touch on the most bombastic revelations in Knox’s new memoir, Waiting to Be Heard–due in stores today–including the claim that she was sexually harassed by prison guards during her time in the slammer. The Associated Press

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1 Modern Family (ABC, Citytv, 9 p.m.) Is there a more adorable dad on television today than Phil Dunphy (as portrayed by Emmy-winner Ty Burrell, of course)? In tonight’s new outing of TV’s funniest half-hour, Phil gladly volunteers for Career Day speaker duties at the school attended by his son Luke (Nolan Gould). Unfortunately, Phil’s real-estate nemesis Gil Thorpe, played by guest star Rob Riggle of The Daily Show, also shows up and tries to impress the kids. In other news, the fabulous couple Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) make some very costly mistakes while teaching daughter Lily about the Easter Bunny.

THURSDAY, MAY 2 Weed Country (Discovery, 10 p.m.) Sharp, edgy and occasionally very funny, this new documentary series follows the ongoing battle between legal authorities and unlicensed marijuana growers working the fields located near the border of California and Oregon, better known as “The Emerald Triangle.” The show’s tone is firmly set in tonight’s opener, which takes place at the front end of the growing season and finds good ol’ weed farmer Mike heading out on his first run of the summer with more than six pounds of herb stashed in his vehicle.

FRIDAY, MAY 3 The Next Step (Family Channel, 7 p.m.) Recently renewed for a second season, this sharp series tell the serialized story of an elite group of young hoofers scrambling for a spot in the “A-Troupe” of dancers at The Next Step Dance Studio. Adding to the show’s credibility is the fact all the principal characters are played by real and very talented dancers. In tonight’s new episode, the A-Troupe is chosen to perform in a music video for a hot new band called Brighter Brightest. The tricky part: The strong-willed dance captain Emily (Alexandra Beaton) has choreographed the routine for the video and isn’t taking too kindly to suggested changes.

SATURDAY, MAY 4 Twisted & Listed (TLC, 10 p.m.) Every day is a new adventure in persuasion for Theresa Michaels. The veteran real estate pro has carved her own niche in the city of Seattle for specializing in problem properties that no sensible agent will touch. In tonight’s series opener, Theresa can’t understand why there are no bids for the charming little bungalow owned by Jody and Henry. Then she discovers that the place is allegedly haunted by two other-worldly spirits. In the second show, she tries to help move a farm that has 17 alpacas that must be sold with it. Hey, it’s a living.

SUNDAY, MAY 5 Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (CNN, 9 p.m.) Galloping gourmand Anthony Bourdain is slowly resurrecting the Cable News Network, one wacky meal at a time. Since launching two weeks ago, this series in which Bourdain visits far-off lands in search of unique culinary experiences has generated solid Sunday-night ratings for CNN, which bodes well for a second season renewal. And it’s quite possible a good number of Canadians will watch tonight as the big guy explores Quebec for the entire hourlong episode. While in La Belle Province, Bourdain has dinner in an ice-fishing cabin, talks politics at Montreal’s iconic Welinsky’s Deli and stuffs himself senseless at Quebec City’s annual Winter Carnival. C’est la vie.
