REALITY Massive Moves HGTV, 7 p.m. ET, 8 p.m. PT The mere mention of the term “moving day” elicits chills in most people, but can you imagine the stress that comes with moving an entire house? This offbeat series documents the daily work routine of companies contracted to move domiciles across the street and, in some cases, across the country. Tonight’s first episode follows the slow and steady traverse of a cute two-storey wooden house being eased along the banks of the raging Skagit River to a new location in southwestern B.C. The logistics behind the move are fascinating, but not nearly as much fun as watching the nervous expression on the owners’ faces.

COMEDY Mr. D CBC, 8 p.m. ET/PT Who says Canadian viewers won’t support a homegrown comedy series? Since debuting last month, this sitcom has steadily pulled an audience of a million-plus viewers (a fact repeated incessantly in the on-air promotional spots for the show). Filmed in Halifax, the program works off the real-life experiences of comedian Gerry Dee, who spent a decade doing fill-in duty as a high-school gym teacher before making stand-up a full-time career. The premise takes a slight shift tonight as his character of Gerry Duncan learns of a job opening up in his current school’s physical education department. Let the fake résumé writing begin!

DRAMA Castle ABC, CTV Two, 10 p.m. ET/PT Jennifer Beals is not stewing in her juices over the cancellation of The Chicago Code. The former model and Flashdance star guest-stars in this hugely popular crime drama in the role of Sophia Conrad, a sexy and dangerous CIA operative who, as it turns out, was the inspiration for a series of espionage novels by series regular Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion). In tonight’s second half of a two-part episode, Ms. Conrad teams with Castle and NYPD detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) to derail a chain of international events that could plunge the U.S. into a major military conflict.

MOVIE Amadeus TCM, midnight ET; 9 p.m. PT Directed by Milos Forman and based on the stage play by Peter Shaffer, this rousing period piece collected best-picture honours at the 1984 Academy Awards. Set in mid-1800s Vienna, the story is told from the viewpoint of the aging composer Salieri, played by F. Murray Abraham in an Oscar-winning turn, who recalls the events of three decades before when the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce) became the chosen one in the court of Emperor Joseph II (Jeffrey Jones). The bitterly jealous Salieri tries to exact revenge upon rival by posing as a wealthy benefactor and commissioning the fantastically intricate Requiem, which eventually costs the younger composer his very life. Brilliant and buoyed immeasurably by the Mozart soundtrack.
