DRAMA The River ABC, CTV, 9 p.m. ET/PT Still pulling a slow and steady ratings fade, this midseason series shows the fine Canadian actor Bruce Greenwood in its opening credits, but where the heck is he? The story stars Greenwood as the intrepid TV explorer Dr. Emmett Cole, who has vanished without a trace somewhere in the Amazon. This being a television show, the good doctor's disappearance prompts his equally adventurous wife Tess (Leslie Hope) and son Lincoln (Joe Anderson) to venture into the jungle to find him. The rescue mission hits yet another roadblock in tonight's episode as Tess and her crew happen upon an abandoned research facility – unaware that a man-eating (and woman-eating) monster lurks within.

DRAMA Body of Proof ABC, CITY-TV, 10 p.m. ET/PT As per every successful medical drama from Ben Casey to House, this show's popularity stems entirely from the performance of Dana Delany as a temperamental medical genius. The former star of China Beach and Desperate Housewives is a commanding presence as the neurosurgeon Megan Hunt, whose surgical prowess was cut short by an auto accident, after which she begins a new career as a medical examiner. In tonight's new episode, Dr. Hunt is called in to investigate a tragic car accident that has left one young girl dead and the other in critical condition. Some quick sleuthing reveals that not only was the wrong child pronounced dead, but the incident itself may not have been accidental.
