When does Amy Jo Johnson ever find time to watch television?

In between playing officer Jules Callaghan on Flashpoint, she's also playing mother to a two-year-old daughter. Born and raised in Cape Cod, Mass., Johnson was a competitive gymnast who relocated to New York in order to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and the American Musical and Acting Academy.

Her gymnastic skills factored into an auspicious TV debut in 1993 as the "Pink Ranger" on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Following roles in the series Saved by the Bell: The New Class, the TV movie Perfect Body (as a teen gymnast with an eating disorder) and the feature Without Limits, Johnson scored a high-profile gig in 1998 on the WB series Felicity, playing the title character's best friend.

Once Felicity wrapped in 2002, she appeared in movies like Magma: Volcanic Disaster and had guest appearances on TV shows, including ER and What About Brian.

Beyond acting, Johnson is passionate about singing and has released two independent albums. Flashpoint came along in 2008 and earned Johnson a Gemini nomination for her portrayal of the stolid Jules. She took a brief maternity leave following the birth of daughter Francesca Christine, but then went right back to work. When not working or playing mom, Johnson finds time for the three following programs.

Grey's Anatomy

I've watched it from the beginning. I buy it on iTunes and then watch it on the computer in bed. I like the stories and I always cry at the end. This past season they did the all-musical episode, which was great. That Callie (Sara Ramirez) can really sing. She was so good, it gave me goose bumps.

Six Feet Under

Probably my favourite show ever. I watched it from beginning to end in two weeks and I loved it. My husband and I were obsessed. I just really got attached to all those characters. They all became like my family. The very last scene, where they went through everybody's life, was probably the best thing I've ever watched on television.

Parenthood

I really like the ensemble shows, and following all the different little storylines and getting involved with the characters. I'm a mom now, so it seems kind of appropriate for my life.

Season four of Flashpoint debuts July 8 at 8 p.m. on CTV.
