Directed by Spike Lee, Undisputed Truth opened just as another boxer-based vehicle – Lady and the Champ, starring 90-year-old Jake LaMotta – finished. The autobiographical Undisputed Truth’s arrival was inevitable. Retired punchers, from Jack Johnson to Sugar Ray Robinson to Joe Frazier, have turned to theatres and nightclubs. Never team players, they don’t consider co-stars. They are used to applause on their presence alone. Critics? These are champions, fearless – take your best shots.
