Ticats a real long shot this week

David Naylor

Not that I want to encourage gambling, but if you’re one of those people who likes to bet the odds then this week’s Hamilton at B.C. game may be worthy of your attention.

First, the Ticats are 2-22 in games played during June and July since 2005.

Then add in the fact that no team from the Eastern time zone has won a game in B.C. in more than five years, a streak of 16 games in a row.

It's been suggested that because games in B.C. kick off at either 10 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. Eastern time, opponents have a difficult time when their body clocks say it’s 2 a.m. by the fourth quarter.

The last team from the Eastern time zone to win in B.C.? The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, in Greg Marshall’s first game as head coach at the start of the 2004 season.

Speaking of streaks, the Argos have a rather ugly one going at home dating back to July of last season. In fact, anyone know the pro football that most recently won a “home” game at the Rogers Centre? It’s the Buffalo Bills who defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a pre-season game last Aug.14.
