Blair: Lowell in doubt

Globe and Mail Blog Post

Bad news for Red Sox Nation: third baseman Mike Lowell is currently being examined by club doctors after coming out of Game 3 when the pain from his torn hip larum flared up, and his status for the rest of the series - and maybe the post-season - is questionable. Lowell came out for a pinch-runner in the sixth inning. "He's hurting," Red Sox's manager Terry Francona said before Monday's fourth game of the best-of-five ALDS Series. "If you take him off the roster, the rules mean he wouldn't be available for the next series. The best thing is to be patient some times. This is a tricky decision, because his ability to play through pain is remarkable."
