NBF hires New York trader

National Bank Financial is expanding its coverage of U.S. clients by hiring a New York-based stock trader away from CIBC World Markets.
Vito DeSerio is joining the Manhattan equity desk at National Bank Financial in two weeks time as a sales trader - he left the investment banking arm of CIBC last week. His focus will be buying and selling Canadian stocks for u.S. clients, a growing sector of the domestic marketplace.
The U.S. market holds no mysteries to executives at National Bank Financial, as head of equity Gerry Throop spent a chunk of his career at Merrill Lynch and CEO Ricardo Pascoe cut his teeth at Bankers Trust, a leading player in U.S. capital markets a generation back.
