RBC expands Middle East wealth management
Andrew Willis
Royal Bank of Canada expanded its Middle Eastern wealth management footprint on Tuesday by launching a corporate trustee operation in Dubai.
Canada’s largest bank is targeting administration of employee benefit plans in the Middle East, a low-profile and low margin business that requires scale, something Royal Bank RY-T has in this sector in other parts of the world.
Royal Bank subsidiary RBC cees hired two HSBC veterans in Dubai to anchor the new unit. Simon Stirzaker and Rola Azab will be senior manager and manager, respectively, of the new team. In a press release, Royal Bank said the focus of this unit is to sell corporate clients on corporate retirement, bonus deferral and employee retention services.
