When to link to other sites is a question that Globe and Mail editors take seriously. One such issue came up Tuesday regarding the aspiring rapper Anthony Spencer, who was killed in Toronto on Saturday morning.
Police say he may have offended his killer or killers through his lyrics. You can see his videos on YouTube and normally we would want to make it easy for you to do so by directly linking to those videos from our site.
We decided against this, not because of the content of videos but because YouTube permits open comments and this is an ongoing police investigation. We do not allow any comments on such a case on globeandmail.com for legal reasons, including contempt of court, and we have a long-standing policy that we do not link to other sites as a way to permit our readers to do something we don’t allow on our own site.
