A dedicated representative, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay won a fourth term as Member of Parliament for Cardigan in 2000.
He was first elected to the House of Commons on November 21, 1988 to represent the constituency of Cardigan in eastern Prince Edward Island.
Mr. Lawrence's cabinet appointments have included Solicitor General of Canada, Minister of Labour, Secretary of State (Veterans) and Secretary of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).
He has also served as Associate Critic for Fisheries and Oceans and was Official Opposition Critic for Seniors. In addition, he chaired the Atlantic Caucus. Lawrence was previously a farmer and businessman.
Mr. Lawrence was born on September 9, 1946 in St. Peter's Bay, Prince Edward Island. He and Frances Elaine O'Connell were married in 1972 and they have three daughters: Carolyn, Rita and Lynn.
