Robert Lanctôt was born in Lachine in 1963. He obtained his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Sherbrooke. He is a member of the Quebec Bar and has continued his legal training in the areas of family mediation, civil and commercial law.

After working as a partner with the Lussier, Lanctôt and Dancose, and Boileau and Lanctot, he went into private practice, practicing family mediation and civil and commercial law. He has been a member of the Family Mediation Association since 1997 and is a member of the civil and commercial mediation reference service with the Quebec Superior Court.

In the context of his political activities, Mr. Lanctôt served as the mediator for the debate between Denis Lazure and Ricardo Lopez during the debate on the Charlottetown agreement in 1992.

Mr. Lanctôt is also a member of the A.G.A Roussillon and of the business group “Regroupement des gens d’affaires de la rue Saint-Pierre” in St-Constant. He also offers legal education workshops free of charge to the community.
