Originally from Joliette, Jean-François Coderre has a Bachelor’s degree in political science.

In addition to his education achievements, Mr. Coderre has acquired significant professional experience, particularly with Statistics Canada, Plastiques Rawdon and the Centre agricole Profid’Or.

Mr. Coderre is particularly recognized for his political involvement which goes back to 1992. With the Young Liberals he was chosen by his peers to be the spokesperson for the “Yes” committee at the time of the Charlottetown referendum.

He subsequently worked with the Joliette riding election committee during the 1993 election campaign. As Vice-President (Youth) with the Federal Liberal Association of Joliette, he was appointed regional coordinator for Lanaudière, and then representative for West Quebec, sitting on the executive of the LPC(Q).

Following his contribution as national spokesperson for the Youth Coalition for a “No” vote during the 1995 referendum, he became president of the YLC(Q). Since 1996 he has been president of the Joliette Federal Liberal Association. In November 2002, he was elected to the position of vice-president (West Quebec) of the LPC (Q).

His profoundly Liberal convictions and his political commitment have led him to stand as a candidate in the riding of Joliette.
