· Received a Master’s degree in Political Science in 1975; also completed one year of doctorate program in Political Science, a Master’s program in History and took courses in Psychology and Communications

· Teacher of Political Science at the Collège Édouard-Montpetit since 1974, except for the period 1979 to 1982 when he worked at the Cégep de Chicoutimi and the Cégep Maisonneuve

· Delegate to the Conseil central de Montréal of the CSN, then to the Fédération nationale des enseignants et enseignantes du Québec (FNEEQ-CSN); and in 1993, was elected to the FNEEQ health and safety committee

· Coordinator of RAP-Montreal from January 1998 to January 2001

· Executive member of the Laurier NDP Association since the fall of 2003
