David Sweet was nominated as the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for the riding of Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale (ADFW) on March 29, 2004.
David’s varied business background includes owning and running a small business, real estate sales and his own consulting company. As owner of Halton Peel Towing in the early 1980s, David managed a fleet of eight tow trucks and a staff of a dozen people. In real estate, David was a broker/leader with Century 21 Heritage, based in Mississauga. There he led a successful team and trained over 100 staff.
For the past 15 years, David has run his own consulting business, Direction Works Inc., which provides training and corporate development services to clients in the private and public sectors, including Proctor & Gamble, the Saskatchewan Home Builders’ Association, Scouts Canada, Certified Management Accountants, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and others.
David is a proven leader and team player, having spent years developing teams of diverse individuals and bringing them together. His organizational leadership experience includes his recent role as President & CEO of Promise Keepers Canada – a faith-based organization dedicated to helping men become better dads, better husbands and contributors to their communities. David is also the Founding President of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and continues to be involved with that organization.
Aside from his business and family life, David enjoys outdoor activities and competed in the North American Long Course Triathlon in 1993. He also volunteers on the School Improvement Committee for his child’s school in Ancaster.
David, and his wife Almut, live in the Meadowlands of Ancaster. Together they have six children and one grandchild.
