Married Willy. They have 6 children and 15 grandchildren.

Presently - Durk and his wife Willy are custodians at Knox Christian School.

1987 - Durk became one of the founding members of the CHP Durham Riding Association and served on the board for about 11 years. He was candidate in 3 federal elections.

Durk is a member of the Orthodox Christian Reformed Church. He has served as elder and deacon, and is currently active as a youth counselor.

His supports Christian Education, the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario and the Christian Labor Association of Canada.

Durk's hobbies are woodworking and cycling. In 2001 he cycled from Bowmanville, Ontario to Nova Scotia to raise funds and awareness for Knox Christian School in Bowmanville.

It is Durk's desire to bring Canada back to the principles upon which Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms is based, the Christian principles that guarantee the right of all Canadians regardless of age, race, sex, or creed.
