David practised law in Dufferin-Caledon from 1970 to 1990, upon being elected to the Ontario Provincial Government. He was designated Queen’s Counsel in 1982, and served as Vice chair of the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) 2003-2004.
David sat as an elected member of the Ontario Legislature as M.P.P. for Dufferin-Caledon, from 1990 to 2002. He resigned his seat so that Premier Ernie Eves could serve in the Ontario Legislature
