Larry McCormick, native of Enterprise Ontario, was first elected to Parliament in 1993.
Mr. McCormick has been a constant advocate for the residents of his community. He was co-founder of Camden East Harvest Festival, Founding Charter Board Member of the Camden East Community School, and served a term as Chair of the Camden East Public Library Board. His community spirit was recognized in 1986 with an Air Canada “Heart of Gold” Award.
Since 1993, Mr. McCormick has demonstrated commitment and effectiveness as a member of several standing committees, including Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, and Agriculture and Agri-Food. Larry was chair of the All Party Sub-Committee for Private Members Business.
Mr. McCormick has provided leadership in Rural Caucus where he initiated and led a broad consultation on rural health issues, resulting in new programs to improve access and delivery of health care to rural communities. In 2000, Mr. McCormick was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and the Minister Coordinating Rural Affairs. He is a founding member of the newly-established Small Business Caucus.
Mr. McCormick continues to work in the interest of agriculture, small business and tourism.
He and his wife Reta have one daughter, Kayla.
