Helena Guergis was raised in Angus, the centre of her Simcoe-Grey riding. As a youngster she assisted her grandfather in his campaign for re-election to the position of Reeve of Essa Township and she has been politically active ever since.
Helena believes strongly in a Canada where everyone has an equal opportunity. Helena was raised in a small business family and worked closely with her father, a first generation Canadian before becoming the owner of her own successful small business. Helena also believes strongly in the power of volunteers. She has raised funds for a number of charities including the Angus Food Bank. Helena was a crisis intervention volunteer for the Barrie & District Rape Crisis Line for many years and has also volunteered as a literacy tutor.
Helena is currently the Vice President of Policy for the Ontario PC Party. Her dedication and leadership skills were recognized in the fall of 2002 when she was re-elected to the Party executive for a third term with the largest plurality in the history of PC provincial executive elections.
Helena was most recently Policy Advisor to the former Ontario Minister of Finance, the Honourable Janet Ecker. Helena traveled extensively with the Minister during budget initiatives and attended meetings with federal and provincial Minister’s of Finance. She has also served as a caucus advisor to the Minister of Education and was the EA for MPP Joe Tascona.
Helena has worked hard to give all Ontarians a say in the way their province is governed. She now wants to give all residents of Simcoe-Grey a voice in how they are governed by Ottawa.
