Dennis Mills was first elected to Parliament in 1988. He was re-elected in 1993 and 1997 to represent the federal riding of Broadview-Greenwood, and again in 2000 for the re-named riding of Toronto-Danforth, a vibrant community of about 110,000 residents in Toronto's downtown east end.

A policy entrepreneur by nature, Mr. Mills’ ideas for a better Canada touch the fundamentals of our society and our economy: a national food policy that protects the safety, quality and security of our food supply; a national strategy on fresh water management designed to clean, conserve, protect, and preserve our most precious natural resource; a national infrastructure that recognizes the relationship of physical fitness and amateur sport to healthy bodies and healthy minds; and a simple and fair tax system that promotes such initiatives.

Prior to entering parliamentary and public life, Mr. Mills owned and ran Chairman Mills, a special events management company. He also worked with Magna International as Corporate Vice-President. Between 1980 and 1984 he worked on the personal staff of the former Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Pierre Elliot Trudeau.

In addition to his parliamentary duties, Mr. Mills’ work in Ottawa also focuses on his work as the Vice-Chair of the Heritage Committee.

He and his wife Vicki live in the riding and have four children - Jennifer, Craig, Stephanie, and Andrea.
