Don Dewar owns and operates Dewar Seed Farms in Dauphin, Manitoba. His career as a producer representative began in 1977 when he was elected to the board of directors of Manitoba Seed Growers. He also served on the national board of the Canadian Seed Growers Association from 1984 to 1991.

Over the years, Mr. Dewar has served as a Manitoba director for the National Board of SeCan, been a member of the Manitoba Farm Mediation Board, a member of the Dauphin Airport Advisory Board and has served a term with the policy branch of Manitoba Agriculture and Food.

He has been a member of the Dauphin Kinsmen, where he held various executive positions. He is also involved with the Parkland Industrial Hemp Growers Co-operative, and active in their efforts to establish a hemp fibre processing plant.

Mr. Dewar was elected to his district's Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP) board in 1991. In 1998, he was elected President of KAP and successfully represented and promoted the interests of Manitoba's farmers with government and industry.

Mr. Dewar received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba in 1972.

He and his wife Marion have two grown children, Tamara and Mark. In his spare time, he is an avid skiier and hunter.
