· Deeply involved in the local community as an elected representative and as a volunteer

· Operates a grain and cattle farm with his family in the Rural Municipality of Minitonas

· Director of the Swan Valley Credit Union for five years

· School Trustee on the Swan Valley School Division Board for 10 years

· Northwest Regional Director on the MAST Executive

· President of the National Farmers Union Local 520

· Coached hockey and baseball in the Minitonas area

· Member of the Minitonas and District Lions Club

· During the Howard Pawley government, served on the Farmland Ownership Board for four years and later as Executive Assistant to Leonard Harapiak for two years

· Currently Chairperson of the Board for the Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation

· Married to Carrie, a nurse; they have three children.
