Raised in River Heights, Ian Scott is informed and aware of the issues and concerns facing the residents of Winnipeg South Centre.
Recognized with Kelvin High School’s Young Civic Leader’s Award in 2003, Ian feels that acknowledging the interdependency of our actions and the environment is fundamental to the success of our community.
He has previously worked with Take Pride Winnipeg!, a non-profit organization that strives to increase citizen responsibility and foster pride in Winnipeg communities. This past year he was on a six-month community development and social services Canada World Youth exchange program, volunteering in schools, a multi-discipline arts centre, a walk-in health clinic and other projects.
Ian supports anti-idling campaigns and public recycling deposits and he wants to promote community green spaces and gardens run by members of the community. He believes that in order to see real change all people, including youth, must become engaged in the issues of their environment. Community is interconnected: we are all responsible for our actions and what we do affects those around us. Therefore Ian feels the Green Party promotes caring for the self, the family, the neighbour, the community and the earth.
