· Worked for 33 years with the Canadian Pacific Railway in a number of roles, including an Assistant Chief Clerk, Accountant, Account Representatives in Revelstoke, Golden, Nelson, Calgary and Montreal

· Earned a Master’s degree in Statistics and a degree from the Labour College of Canada

· Has served as President of the Bengali Cultural Association of Canada, the India-Canada Association of Calgary and the School for East Indian Languages and Performing Arts, and the Vedanta Society of Calgary

· Has served as Treasurer of the Calgary Folk Arts Council the Southern Alberta Heritage Languages Association, the National Indo-Canadian Council, the Calgary District Labour Council and the North East Lions Club

· Former Director of the Canadian Labour Force Development Board representing the Visible Minority Council

· Executive Member of the National Visible Minority Council

· Treasurer of the National Indo-Canadian Council

· Fund raiser for the Heart and Stoke Foundation and the Lung Association

· Has worked in the United Way

· Founding member of the Ethno-Cultural Council

· Past Local Chair of the TCU in Revelstoke, Nelson and Calgary
