George Read was born and raised in Calgary. As a youth, he was a member of Scouts Canada, which fostered his love for the outdoors. George graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Management. He has worked 8 years as a purchaser for a local manufacturing firm. George is concerned about many environmental issues, and is involved with both the Sierra Club Calgary, and the Society of Environmentally Responsible Livestock Operators (SERLO).
