Since 1997, Rick has served his community as a public school trustee for Trillium Lakelands District School Board. In 2004, he was elected to serve as President of the Ontario Public School Boards Association, serving for three consecutive terms.
Rick has also been a member of numerous boards and committees including the Provincial Safe Schools Committee, Provincial Committee reviewing funding and delivery of Special Education Services, City of Kawartha Lakes (COKL) Anti-drug Committee and the COKL Library Board.
Rick and his wife Terri have two children. They have made their home on their farm in Pontypool.
