Ontario, Haliburton - Kawartha Lakes - Brock, Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario

Laurie Scott is currently MPP for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock, and Environment Critic for the Opposition. She was elected on October 2, 2003 and has previously served as the critic for Training, Colleges and Universities.

Laurie went to public school in Kinmount and secondary school in Fenelon Falls. She went on to complete her education, earning her nursing diploma, at Loyalist College in Belleville.

She nursed at Toronto General Hospital, and had various international contracts. She returned to the community and worked as a nurse in the ICU at Ross Memorial Hospital. She is still an active registered nurse.

Laurie worked in the family grocery business while growing up. She has also worked in the real estate business and, from 2000 to 2003, served as Executive Assistant to Senator Consiglio DiNino in Ottawa.

In 2000, Laurie was the federal PC candidate for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock and, in the 2000 election, achieved one of the highest vote totals for a PC candidate in Ontario. She also has served as president of her local federal riding association, and as a director of the provincial riding association.
