CONTEST OF SKILL
THE "GLOBE AND MAIL FANTASY HOCKEY PLAYOFF" HOCKEY POOL (THE "CONTEST") IS A CONTEST OF SKILL DESIGNED TO TEST THE ENTRANT'S PROGNOSTICATION SKILL IN PREDICTING THE PERFORMANCE OF VARIOUS COMBINATIONS OF HOCKEY PLAYERS DURING THE 2007 NHL HOCKEY PLAYOFFS. CHANCES OF WINNING DEPEND UPON THE ENTRANT'S SKILL, INCLUDING DECISIONS REGARDING THE NATURE AND NUMBER OF CHANGES MADE. THIS CONTEST IS PROVIDED SOLELY FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES AND CANNOT BE USED IN CONNECTION WITH ANY FORM OF GAMBLING.

1. CONTEST PERIOD, ADMINISTRATOR AND SPONSOR
A. Contest Period
You may register for this Contest beginning on April 5, 2007 at 6:00 PM (ET) . The deadline for Contest registration is April 11, 2007 at 6:00 PM (ET) (the "Registration Deadline"). Deadline for entry, receipt of your initial team roster and your confirmation of that roster (for the first round) is April 11, 2007 at 6:00PM (ET) ("Entry Deadline") The Contest period begins on April 11, 2007 at 6:00 PM (ET) and ends immediately after the completion of the final game of the National Hockey League playoffs season (the "Contest Period").
B. Contest Administrator and Sponsor
The Contest sponsor is CTVglobemedia Publishing Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the " Sponsor"). Contest is administered by FSN Inc, 18 Mowat Ave. 2nd Floor, Toronto, Ontario. M6K 3E8 (the "Administrator"). All decisions of the Sponsor, Administrator and/or of an independent judging organization, including without limitation, any matters with respect to the eligibility of entries, are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
2. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open to legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside. All other persons are strictly prohibited from entering this Contest. Contest is not open to employees or representatives of the Sponsor, the Administrator, any Contest advertisers, or their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, related companies, advertising or promotional agencies or members of the immediate family (defined as parents, children, siblings and spouse) or household of such employees or representatives.
3. METHOD OF ENTRY - NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
Visit http://globeandmail.com/fantasyplayoffs (the "Contest Website") and follow the instructions there to register for the Contest, complete the Contest entry form, and submit your initial team roster. When entering, all lines on the Contest entry form must be completed unless indicated as optional. Upon submitting your team, you will be asked to confirm your team roster selection on-line. Your confirmation must be received prior to the Contest Entry Deadline for your team to be eligible.
Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, mutilated mail or e-mail, including but not limited to user I.D.s and passwords or any computer errors or malfunctions.
4. HOW TO PLAY
A. General
You must select a team roster consisting of 20 professional hockey players. Each of the three (3) rounds of the Contest, you may change your team roster through trades, you will be allowed 2 trades per NHL playoff round. Each "round" refers to the official playoff rounds as scheduled by the NHL. You will accumulate Contest points based on the performance of the players on your fantasy team from the day you submit your fantasy team.You will compete against all Contest entrants for Prizes which will be awarded on the basis of the total number of points accumulated by each entrant over the Contest Period.
B. Roster Selection
You must choose the specified number of players in each of the following categories. Your roster must consist of 20 players, as follows:
12 forwards
6 defensemen
2 goalies
2 Teams
If you fail to submit your team roster in accordance with these Official Rules or should your team roster consist of less than 20 players at the applicable Contest Deadline, your team roster will be deemed invalid.
C. Trades
You will be permitted to make 2 trades for each playoff round. All trades must be completed before 11:59 PM ET the day before.
D. Scoring System
You will accumulate points based upon statistics generated in NHL games played during the Contest Period by the players selected as part of your team roster and submitted and confirmed by you in accordance with these Official Rules. Points will be awarded in accordance with the following scoring system ("Scoring System"):

Shutouts (Goalies) 5 pts
Loss (Goalies) -2pts
Overtime Loss (Goalies) 1 pt
E. Incomplete and Rescheduled Games
In the unlikely event that any NHL game is: (a) postponed, cancelled, delayed, or suspended, and therefore not completed by 7:00 a.m. (PT) on the next day immediately following the originally scheduled date for the game; or (b) considered incomplete by the National Hockey League for any reason, as at 7:00 a.m. (PT) on the next day immediately following the originally scheduled date for the NHL game in question, a notice will be posted on the Contest Website as soon as reasonably possible, to indicate how points potentially accumulated from that game will be treated in the Scoring System.
5. PRIZES
Grand Prize: There is one (1) Grand Prize (the "Prize") consisting of a trip for two (2) to Atlanta, GA for the All Star Hockey Game. Trip includes: round trip economy airfare for two (2) from the international airport closest to the Prize winner's residence in Canada (hereinafter referred to as the "Departure Point") to Atlanta Georgia; two (2) nights accommodation (based on one room, double occupancy) as chosen by the Contest Sponsor, Two (2) Upper Level Tickets to Heroes of Hockey and SuperSkills Competition at Philips Arena - Atlanta, GA on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, two (2) Upper Level Ticket to the All-Star Game at Philips Arena - Atlanta, GA on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 (seat selection to be determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole discretion) and round-trip airport transfers. Prize winner and his/her traveling companion must travel on the identical itinerary and travel must originate from and end at the same airport. Prize winner and his/her traveling companion are solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein including, without limitation, applicable taxes, fuel/currency surcharges, ground transportation, meals, beverages, room service, gratuities, merchandise, telephone calls, insurance together with any required travel documentation, and all personal expenses of any kind or nature, together with any applicable overnight layover. Flight dates and hotel accommodation are subject to change without notice or compensation. Prize winner and his/her traveling companion are also solely responsible for all costs incurred to and from the Departure Point as the Prize originates and terminates there. It is the sole responsibility of the Prize winner and his/her traveling companion to obtain all necessary travel documentation including passports and visas if applicable and to comply with any customs and immigration requirements. Prize winner and his/her traveling companion must be able to travel at the times and dates as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole discretion failing which the Prize will be forfeited. It is recommended that Prize winner and his/her traveling companion obtain sufficient personal insurance prior to departure. Prize winner must be prepared to travel January 15-17, 2008. Contest Sponsor is not responsible for changes in scheduling of any element of the Prize, and Contest Sponsor is not liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence of flight cancellation or delay. Approximate retail value of the Prize is five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) based on a Toronto departure.
Contest Sponsor will not be responsible if weather conditions, event cancellations or other factors beyond their reasonable control prevent the Prize or any part of the Prize from being fulfilled. In any such event, the Prize winner will not be provided with a substitute or cash equivalent for the Prize, or any such part of the Prize.
B. Tiebreakers
If two or more entrants are tied for the Prize, then the tie(s) will be broken and the Prize awarded using the following tie-breaking system in the order listed, until all ties are broken. The winner of the tie will be the entrant whose confirmed teams had:
1) Least Games Played
2) Most Goals Scored
3) First to register for the game
In the unlikely event that the scores of two or more eligible entrants are still tied after all rounds of tie-breakers have been applied, the tied entrants will be entered into a random draw to select the winner. In such a case, the randomly selected entrant will be required to correctly answer, unaided, a mathematical skill-testing question in order to be eligible for the prize.
6. UPDATES, STANDINGS AND RESULTS
A. Unofficial Standings and Results
Unofficial updates (the "Unofficial Results") will be posted on-line at the Contest Website on or about the day following the close of each day (each an "Unofficial Results Date"). In the event of a discrepancy respecting an Unofficial Result, the affected entrants must notify the Administrator at the following e-mail address: support@poolexpert.com within seven (7) days after the Unofficial Results Date. In the event of a discrepancy between statistical reviews, the final statistics as posted on http://www.globeandmail.com/hockeypool will be considered official and final.
B. Official Standings and Results
If no discrepancies have been e-mailed to support@poolexpert.com within seven (7) days after the Unofficial Results Date, it will be assumed the standings are correct and the Unofficial Results will become official at that time (the "Official Results Date").
7. CONTACTING WINNERS
K.D. Black & Company ("Black"), acting on behalf of the Sponsor will use commercially reasonable efforts to contact the potential winner by e-mail or telephone within seven (7) business days after the applicable final Official Results Date (the "Winner Contact Period"). If a potential winner is disqualified from eligibility or cannot be contacted by Black within the Winner Contact Period, or if the potential winner fails to respond to any message or e-mail left for such potential winner within the Winner Contact Period, Black will have the right to award the Prize to the entrant who has accumulated the next highest total number of points. Black will then attempt to contact this next potential winner, who will be subject to disqualification in the same manner.
The Sponsor will be fully released and discharged from any liability or responsibility in in connection with the disqualification of any entrant or failure to contact a potential winner within the Winner Contact Period.
8. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A. General
Your participation in this Contest constitutes your acknowledgement and agreement that you have read, understood and agree to the terms and conditions set out in these Official Rules. All entries are the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. All decisions of the Sponsor, Administrator, Black or of an independent judging organization, including without limitation, with respect to the eligibility of entries, are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
B. Release, etc.
By entering, you release and hold harmless Sponsor and Administrator, their advertising and promotional agencies, the affiliates of the foregoing, and all of their respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the "Releasees") from any and all liability of any kind arising out of your participation in this Contest. Before being declared a winner, potential winner and each potential winner's travelling companion, or if under the age of majority in their province/territory of residence, his or her parent or legal guardian, will be required to sign, and return within the time stipulated by the Sponsor, a full release and indemnity in the form provided by the Sponsor stating that the entrant and travelling companion has read, understood and complied with these Official Rules, grants all consents contemplated in these Official Rules, is eligible for and accepts the Prize as offered and releases the Releasees from any and all liability of any kind arising out of the entrant's participation in this Contest and the receipt, use and enjoyment of any Prize awarded.
By accepting his/her Prize, the winner authorizes the Sponsor to broadcast, publish and/or disseminate his or her name, city of residence, photograph, likeness, as is or as may be edited, voice, opinions and statements in connection with any promotion or publicity, and/or for general news and information purposes, without further notice or compensation beyond the awarding of or participation in the Prize.
C. No Liability
Without limiting the releases referenced above, and for greater certainty, Releasees will not be liable for: a) any incomplete or inaccurate capture of entry or other information, whether caused by Contest Website users or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of entries or administration of the Contest; b) the theft, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries or other information; c) any error or defect in, or any omitted, interrupted, deleted, lost, delayed or garbled, data or transmissions; d) any problems with, or technical malfunctions of, telephone networks or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, viruses or bugs; e) any failure of any e-mail to be received by or from Sponsor for any reason including but not limited to traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof; or f) damage to a participant's or other person's computer equipment, system, software or any combination thereof, relating to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest. Entry materials/data that have been tampered with or altered are void.
Without limiting the foregoing, the Releasees will not be liable for any failure of the web site during the contest; for any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; for the failure of any entry to be received by the Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies or the contest judges for any reason including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site; or any combination of the above.
D. Right to Terminate, Amend or Suspend Contest
If for any reason the Sponsor and Administrator, at their sole discretion, decide that this Contest is not capable of running as planned or that the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest is corrupted or adversely affected for any cause beyond the Sponsor's control including, but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failures, the Sponsor and/or Administrator reserves the right at any time without prior notice to terminate, amend or suspend this Contest, in whole or in part, including terminating any method of entry, and to select a winner based on points accumulated up to the time of any such action taken by Sponsor and/or Administrator.
The Sponsor further reserves the right to modify the Official Rules of this Contest in any way at any time it deems necessary or appropriate without materially affecting the terms and conditions of this Contest.
E. Disqualification of Entrants
The Sponsor and/or Administrator reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify, from this Contest and any future contest, game or promotional program that may be conducted by Sponsor and/or Administrator, any individual it finds to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, in a disruptive or annoying manner with Sponsor and/or Administrator, the Contest or other entrants, or who attempts to undermine or tamper with the entry process or the administration, security or proper conduct of the Contest.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE CONTEST WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR AND/OR ADMINISTRATOR RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
G. Applicable Laws
This Contest is subject to all applicable laws. Contest is void where prohibited. These Official Rules govern all aspects of this Contest and are binding on all participants. For residents of the province of Quebec, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of this Contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
H. Taxes and Prize Delivery
Winner is responsible for all federal, state/provincial and local taxes levied on or in connection with prizes.
I. Dispute as to identity of entrant
In the event of a dispute, online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the person who is assigned an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. If the identity of an online entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder associated with the email account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry name change. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of a valid online entry in this contest will be the contest server machine(s).
J. Privacy
Information collected from entrants is subject to The Globe and Mail privacy policy located at www.theglobeandmail.com. By entering this Contest,each entrant consents to the collection, use and distribution of his/her personal information(information that identifies an entrant as an individual, such as home telephone number, age and home address) by the Sponsor for the purposes of implementing, administering and fulfilling this Contest.
By entering this Contest, the Prize winner authorizes the Sponsor to broadcast, publish, disseminate his or her name, city of residence, sobriquet, photograph, likeness, voice, opinions and statements in connection with any promotion or publicity, and/or for general news and information purposes without compensation. The Sponsor will not sell or transmit this information to third parties unless entrant has consented to the same.
