Dangerous nonsense Add to ...

The letter from Gimaa J. Edward Williams (The Rule Of Whose Law? -- Aug. 11), in which he says that aboriginal people must subscribe to First Nations' law rather than Canadian law, is an excellent and timely illustration of intellectual chickens coming home to roost.

The problem is not so much that what Mr. Williams says is dangerous nonsense, both legally and historically. The problem is that, after decades of political correctness and well-meaning poltroonery on the part of the federal government, Mr. Williams and a whole generation of aboriginal leaders genuinely believe this dangerous nonsense to be true.
