Re Lawrence Martin's column The Unwritten Bylaw Of Bytown: Fall In Line Or Fall Out Of Favour (Aug. 9): The entire incident of the flight attendant, the pilot and the Prime Minister strikes me as odd and is in stark contrast to what I personally observed having spent the better part of two months during the election campaign sitting across the aisle from Stephen Harper.
Mr. Harper was always polite and thankful for the services rendered by those who ensured the safety of himself and others on the aircraft. Indeed, I was amazed (and impressed) by the fact he rarely asked for anything and usually waited until something was offered. Never once did I see Mr. Harper use an electronic device other than a personal laptop or a cellular phone (he does not even own a BlackBerry) unless permitted to do so. Mr. Martin's attempt to cast the Prime Minister in an unfavourable light simply does not reflect reality.
