It's that time of year again: leaves are falling, the temperature is dropping, and tire shops are working around the clock to get cars ready for the first snowfall.

Are you wondering if you really need a new set of tires for the winter, or if all-seasons are good enough? Rims or no rims? Maybe just two tires will do? How much should you spend? Do you know what to do if you encounter black ice, or get stuck at the bottom of a hill and your car won't budge?

Melissa Arbour, Canadian Tire's senior category manager for wheels and tires, Ian Law, winter driving instructor, ice racing competitor, and owner of ILR Car Control School, and Globe Drive's senior columnist Peter Cheney joined us to take your questions about tires.
