paris auto show

Mondial de I'Automobile 2014 – better known as the Paris auto show – has launched auto season in spectacular style. This bi-annual show oozes glitz and glamour – and features dozens of star-studded world vehicle debuts.

Here are the Top 10 vehicles that stole this year's show.

2016 Mercedes Benz AMG GT

Mercedes latest three-pointed star is a showstopper. This high-performance two-seat sports car, inspired by the outgoing SLS AMG supercar, gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V-8 and aims to take on the Porsche 911, Audi R8 and Aston Martin Vantage.

Lexus RC F

Lexus is raising the bar with its all-new coupe. It’s not only eye candy, it’s a fast and furious ride with the most powerful Lexus V-8 to date: a 5.0-litre V-8 engine, which produces 466 horsepower and 388 lb-ft of torque.

Ferrari 458 Speciale A Spider

The “A” in Ferrari 458 Speciale A doesn’t stand for amazing – but it should. It stands for Aperta, which means “open” in Italian. The limited-edition roadster is sleek and sexy and shares the same 4.5-litre V-8 engine as the 458 Italia. The difference is the retractable aluminum hard top, which drops in less than 15 seconds.

Audi TT

The 2016 Audi TT and TTS roadsters drew crowds on the show floor, oozing style and sophistication. Going topless in this two seater is a cinch – the fully automatic soft top roof raises and lowers with the touch of a button in 10 seconds.

Jaguar XE

This mid-size luxury sedan is a stunning addition to the Jaguar family. Available in all-wheel and rear-wheel drive configurations, its attractive, high-tech body is made largely of aluminum. A diesel engine and a manual transmission will come to North America in two years.

BMW 2-Series convertible

The BMW 2-Series convertible replaces the 1-Series convertible and is a stylish, spacious drop-top for four. The fabric soft-top roof folds down with the push of a button in about 20 seconds, even at speeds up to 50 km/h. It doesn’t take up much trunk space either – there’s room for luggage for a weekend getaway.

Bentley Mulsanne Speed

Elegance and style combine to make the Bentley Mulsanne a head turner. Add more power and torque and it becomes the Speed – it is extremely fast thanks to its 6.75-litre twin turbocharged V-8, which delivers 530 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.

Alfa Romeo 4C

Based on the 4C coupe, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider goes one step further with its folding fabric roof. Under the hood is a 237-hp 1.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will launch it from 0- 100 km/h in less than five seconds.

Land Rover Discovery Sport

Land Rover offers up a new luxurious compact SUV that’s capable of tackling anything Mother Nature throws in your off-road path. Plus, it comes with seating for up to seven passengers.

Lamborghini concept

The Lamborghini Asterion is a concept from exotic Italian auto maker. It’s Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid – the combined output from the 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V-10 engine and three electric motors deliver a whopping 910 hp. And it can hit 0-100 km in just three seconds.
