Infiniti M Hybrid

The first hybrid-electric model from Nissan's luxury brand will go on sale next year. It has a 3.5-litre, seven-speed automatic V-6 and electric drive. The car's gas engine can completely shut off while the car runs on battery power.

SaaB 9-4X

Saab's new crossover was developed with former owner General Motors. The 9-4X and the Cadillac SRX share engines, components and a front-wheel-drive vehicle platform. All-wheel-drive is available. The 9-4X will be assembled in the same GM factory in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, as the SRX.

Volvo C30 plug-in electric

Volvo's EV will come to California next year as part of a test fleet, said Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volvo. Volvo plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid in 2012.

Honda Fit EV


Honda showed a plug-in hybrid system designed to work with mid-sized and larger vehicles and also unveiled an electric version of the Fit subcompact. Interestingly, Honda has for a decade restricted its Integrated Motor Assist hybrid drivetrain to small cars. The Fit EV will enter demonstration fleets at Google, Stanford University and the city of Torrance, Calif., this year. Honda Motor CEO Takanobu Ito said the vehicle would go on sale in 2012.

Toyota RAV4 EV

Toyota is teaming with Tesla Motors to develop a demonstration fleet of electric RAVs. Toyota hopes to have a production version ready in 2012, but declined to give further details. The RAV4 EV prototype is expected to have a range of about 160 km – the same range as the RAV4 EV Toyota built in the mid-1990s, of which 748 are still on the road.

Kia Optima Hybrid

Kia showed its first gasoline-electric hybrid, a version of its new mid-size Optima sedan. Kia says the Optima Hybrid will challenge the best of them with its performance and fuel economy. The Optima relies on a full parallel hybrid system shared with Hyundai.

Acura TSX sedan

Honda's luxury brand is doing a mid-cycle update of the 2011 TSX sedan. The face-lifted TSX has a restyled fascia and wheels as well as interior upgrades and engine improvements to boost fuel economy.

2012 Ford Focus

The redesigned 2012 Focus goes on sale early next year. The lineup includes four-door sedan and five-door hatchback versions. The star in Los Angeles was the Focus ST expected to top 240 hp.

Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG

The CLS63 features a 555-hp, twin-turbocharged, 5.5-litre V-8 mated to a seven-speed multi-clutch transmission. Fast, very fast.

Range Rover Evoque

The five-door version of the Range Rover Evoque compact SUV, based on the LR2 platform, will go on sale next fall. The five-door Evoque is much shorter than the Range Rover Sport. The five-door will be joined by a three-door Evoque when it goes on sale.

BMW 650i convertible

The production version of BMW's 650i convertible gets a turbocharged 4.4-litre V-8 engine that makes 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a six-speed manual or a new eight-speed Sport Automatic transmission.

Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept. The ULC has gull wing doors, a footprint of only 151 inches long and 68.1 inches wide and seats four.

2011 Hyundai Elantra

A 1950 Porsche 356 Cabriolet is showcased at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Paying tribute to the legendary 356 Speedster, Porsche will build 356 new model numbers of the new two-seat roadster 911 Speedster. This 1950 Porsche is one of the first cars built in Stuttgart, Germany following Porsche's relocation from Gmund, Austria.
