Tesla’s Model X Concept SUV seats seven people, blending the “best of an SUV with the benefits of a minivan, as only an electric car can,” claims the company’s website. It will be on sale in 2014.

2014 Cadillac ELR luxury coupe features Extended Range Electric Vehicle technology, based on the company’s Converj concept car. GM claims the car has a range of more than 300 miles, or 480 km with a combination of electric driving and a range-extending generator.

Toyota unveils its Corolla Furia Concept car during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Toyota has once again dethroned General Motors as the world's top-selling automaker. The Japanese company sold 9.7 million cars and trucks worldwide in 2012, although it's still counting. GM sold 9.29 million.

Honda’s Urban SUV concept is nine inches shorter than the Honda CR-V. Honda plans to launch the small SUV in Japan at the end of 2013, and bring it to the U.S. in 2014.
