Brahma Wheel Lock

You dropped the trailer at the campground, laid out the lawn chairs and barbecue and went for a hike. Upon your return, the chairs and barbecue were there, but the trailer hitched a ride to the unknown. Or the tractor at the farm is missing, along with the horse trailer and – oh no! – your beloved classic car. They'd still be there if you'd locked them with a wheel lock that's tough to tamper with.

While most stolen vehicles are recovered, most trailers and their contents are not. So John Clarke, of Burnaby, B.C., designed the Brahma Wheel Lock in 2010.

The Brahma is rated as one of the toughest wheel locks in North America.

The bright orange tri-armed device is made of tempered steel with a dinner plate-sized cap that fits over the wheel lug nuts so it cannot be removed. To install the Brahma, slip two of the wheel hooks on to the tire and insert the nut cover. The third hook slides into the Brahma hub to the tightest hole and then the whole system is locked. The patented design thwarts any attempt to pull it off with a chain and tow vehicle, but folds to easily store while you roll down the highway.
